Abstract

Introduction: Continuing professional development is not merely an option but a necessity for graduates in a world where scientific and technical advancements are progressing at a rapid pace.

Objective: To highlight the need for a process of continuous professional development among healthcare professionals, specifically graduates in Optometry and Optics.

Methods: An exhaustive search was conducted in scientific databases such as PubMed, SciELO, and Scopus, using specific search terms related to ocular biometrics and the improvement of professional performance among graduates in Optometry and Optics.

Methods: A study was conducted on ocular biometry, a fundamental discipline in the field of Optometry and Optics. The importance of professional development for graduates in Optometry and Optics was highlighted to improve ocular biometry and ensure excellent patient care.

Conclusions: Patterns were identified that allowed for the operational definition of professional development to improve the performance of graduates in Optometry and Optics in the practice of ocular biometry.

Continuous development is not just an option, but a necessity for graduates in a world where scientific and technical development advances at an accelerated pace. It is key to remaining relevant, competitive, and offering quality services that contribute to the progress of society. The rapid development of today´s world means that knowledge quickly become. A study was conducted on ocular biometry, a fundamental discipline in the field of optometry and optics. The importance of professional development for graduates in Optometry and Optics is highlighted for improving ocular biometry and ensuring excellent service to patients. Hence the motivation to examine these variables to understand the importance of the professional performance of optometry and optics professional through an updated search of various published articles, with the objective of developing a bachelor´s degree in Optometry and Optics. The Infomed platform, specifically the Virtual Health Library, with all its search engines, was used.
