Validation of Content, Appearance and Feasibility of a Clinical Epidemiological form for the Surveillance of Postoperative Endophthalmitis
Keywords:

Objective: To assess the content validity, face validity, acceptability, and feasibility of the Clinical-Epidemiological Form for Postoperative Endophthalmitis.
Methods: A study of technological development and innovation in health, with a sequential design. Content and face validity were assessed through the judgment of seven experts. The content validity index per item and the scale average were calculated. A pilot test was conducted with 30 ophthalmologists using 30 anonymized clinical records, and feasibility and acceptability indicators were evaluated.
Results: The expert panel showed a high overall competence coefficient (K=0.85). The initial content validity (S-CVI/Ave) was 0.94. Following qualitative and quantitative feedback, five items were reformulated, resulting in a second version (76 items) with an S-CVI/Ave of 0.97. Face validity reached a favorable agreement of 96.4%. In the pilot test, the median completion time was 12 minutes, completeness of essential fields was 97.8%, and 100% of participants recommended its institutional use. The final version retained 13 dimensions and 76 items.
Conclusions: The Clinical-Epidemiological Form for Postoperative Endophthalmitis has adequate content and face validity, as well as high acceptability and feasibility, making it a suitable instrument for the epidemiological surveillance of postoperative endophthalmitis associated with cataract surgery.
