Personalized Topographic and Aberrometric Treatments in Corneal Refractive Surgery
Keywords:
refractive surgery; laser; tomography; aberrometryAbstract
Refractive surgery comprises surgical procedures aimed at modifying ocular refraction in its various forms of ametropia. It is not without complications and leaves a gap when it is not possible to accurately predict the changes that occur in the cornea after surgery. In recent years, with the development of modern wavefront analysis platforms and systems, new optimized ablation algorithms have been incorporated which, depending on the ablation patterns, aim to improve post-surgical visual quality. The objective of this research was to delve deeper into these treatments in corneal refractive surgery. In the case of conventional treatments, these can induce high-order aberrations and affect visual quality, while personalized treatments, guided by topography or aberrometry, are an option for treating and improving visual impairment in patients.
