Blepharoplasty combined with Periocular Skin Resurfacing with CO2 Ablative Laser

Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the intraoperative and postoperative results of blepharoplasty combined with CO2 ablative laser periocular skin resurfacing.

Methods: A longitudinal and prospective study was performed with 158 patients seen at the Oculoplasty Clinic of the Hospital Clínico Quirúrgico Hermanos Ameijeiras between November 2021 and December 2023.

Results: The age group 41-59 years and female sex predominated in the sample. The mean operative time was 91.23 ± 9.7 min. Additional anesthesia was required in only 17.7% of the patients. The 48.1 % of the patients returned to their usual social activity before the seventh day. During the application of periocular skin resurfacing only 6.9 % reported feeling intense thermal sensation.

Conclusions: Aesthetic blepharoplasty combined with periocular skin resurfacing with CO2 ablative laser offers good aesthetic and functional results and its possible postoperative complications disappear and do not leave sequelae.
